The Dousman Community Center was built in 1934. Over the years, the Community Center has served the local community in several ways. It was used as a gym for the elementary school, roller skating rink, movie theater and even as a blood donation center. It also served the community for many social events including weddings, dances, class reunions and retirement parties.
The Dousman Community Center burned down in the late 1950s but was quickly rebuilt in 1959. During this period, it was run by a local community board until it was purchased by the Dousman-Ottawa Lions Club in 1986.
After a complete renovation, it still serves the community for numerous social events. The proceeds are used for the many Lions charities and to serve community.
